As Creative Director at High 5 Games, I had the absolute pleasure of hiring Toni in 2024. Throughout the hiring process it became perfectly clear to me that she was brave, humble, smart, goal oriented, gifted, and hungry to break into an industry that she was passionate about. At our company, a Technical Artist is not quite what it means at most game development studios. Here at High 5 Games, a TA is in charge of both the highly technical aspects of building games, as well as actively participating in the creative process: from concept to design as well as being in charge of modifying and creating animations and production art. She was driven to educate herself, practice, learn, grow and her heart is filled with gusto for it.
I never regretted our decision to hire her. From day one all she wanted to do is learn and grow into the position that is one of the most complicated and diverse at High 5 Games. Always, her answer is “yes” and “what else can I do”. She actively searches for knowledge, never wasting a minute of her day when she could be feeding her mind and skill set. She picked up our (very complex and outdated) “Game Engine”, which is more about digging through and modifying code and XML type data, than visually placing assets in-game. She learned how to animate in Spine with great speed and skill. She thrived in our fast paced environment. Every single day she impressed me with her growth and love for the position, something most people can only dream about having for their job.
